Isn't Freedom Wonderful?
I mentioned this last week and suggested that I might participate. Unfortunately, money problems (i.e. I haven't got any) prevented me from doing so. Fortunately, not everyone is in the same financial situation as myself and on Monday around 200 people turned up to defend the right to protest, among them fellow blogger Tim Ireland. The protest was against the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 which prohibits demonstrations in Parliament Square without prior permission. As organisers made a point of not asking for permission the action was illegal and in order to prove the point the police turned out in force (presumably diverting valuable resources from counter-terrorist operations) and arrested 5 people.
